Archie is a 2 year old poodle who has had a rough start in life being unable to walk properly on his back legs.

His first family signed him over after they would not get his operation done. The vets did the operation and re-homed Archie to us in February/March 2017 once he was well on the road to recovery.

Lots of physio and careful help and he has grown stronger and happier. He is the most amazing little dog, with incredible temperament, gentle, kind and loves life to the full. All was going really well until 3 weeks ago, when Archie let out an incredible scream and could not walk on his back left leg.

The vet has X-rayed him and one of the pins holding his knee has slipped through into his muscle.He now has to go through more operations, the first to remove the pins and then once the bone has healed he will again need his leg stabilised and back to physio.

None of this is covered on his pet insurance as it is a pre-existing condition, and this weeks bill was just over £400

The next visit to the vets is to remove the pins. The estimate for this is just under £500 and once healed, the next round of stabilising his leg we are looking at doubling these amounts.

If it was anything other that his back legs he is of course insured, but as with pet insurance, as its a pre-existing condition it is not covered.

The vet said “ this shouldn’t have happened it is just bad luck she has not seen this before".

WE WILL NOT GIVE UP on Archie, we have to find the funds to help him, he has only walked pain free on all 4 legs for a year of his young life.
