Mary is true Romany Gypsy. I have known her since I was 5 (38yrs) She is family. I receive warm kindness from Mary along with the intrinsic qualities of her heritage and she always finds our door and hearts open to her.

With governmental bullying tactics breaking down this way of life here in Britain over my lifetime she has been without her community for many years as they have been forced into properties and scattered. I have met so many of the younger generations during the 5 years I worked in prisons and know our streets are sadly homes to many of them.

Mary is true Romany, it is against all of her ethics and values to take benefits and she will not be forced into a brick house. She still goes door to door offering her services as a seer and a truth speaker, offering traditional charms and stones in exchange for the cash needed to pay for the basics of rent for her van and heating - Her landlord is less than tolerant of late payment.

We have decided to collect for Mary in service. We intend to raise £200 to take some pressure away from her over the dark cold months of December and January. We are not certain how old Mary is, but we are aware of dangerous situations she has found herself in as she reaches a more fragile age and how tired she gets as a natural consequence of age, she has a bad knee which sometimes prevents her walking which can have dire consequences if she is unable to get out. If you wish to give this year to those less financially fortunate and want to know that every penny will go direct to make a difference not only to the circumstances but to this incredible woman's heart to know she is not alone.

This may sound bold - please be generous - the collection will be ongoing but the intention is to initially ease her mind and body for the coming winter.

Giving and being of service freely to those who do not have the means or the skills to function in this driven society is a way to reclaim our sense of belonging and refuse to join the survival of the fittest mentality, in so doing we are elevated in heart and freed in mind. All have value in our family and so in our community, money is just a means.

This means so much to us as a family We love Mary dearly, We never know when we will see her we give what we have that day and then enjoy her company for the time she stays. She is a rare one who carries the wisdom of the ages in her heart and it radiates through her face. She is a teacher to me and all who care to be still enough to see and to listen, living a life of no compromise, she lives by example not to be defeated by the cruel attitudes of fear and discrimination, to live by morals and ethics and to speak truth with absolute kindness.
