Over 300 boats, 28 Bridges, 22 miles...against the tide....5 ladies...4 oars, 1 traditional rowing boat & no stopping....on a mission to reach the end against the odds.

A marathon using your arms...not just a personal challenge as i've never rowed before, but also an opportunity to raise money and awareness for 2 great causes: ALD Life & 1st Maidenhead Scouts.

ALD Life - an incredible organisation supporting patients and their families (my brother) with Adrenoleukodystrophy (ALD) and Adrenomyeloneuropathy (AMN).
Personally I want to support those with AMN an incredibly rare condition (1:40,000) and one my brother lives with every day. I want to do my part to raise awareness for a condition that doesnt get lots of attention or support and yet has such a devastating impact on young people's lives.
ALD Life are the only 'lifeline' in the UK for these patients and families.

Last year they:
• brought together more than 30 families to share experiences and make new friends with families going through similar circumstances
• provided financial support to more than 10 families to help get specialist equipment, full-time care and regular treatment, including a Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT)
• started a Patient Liaison Service to provide full-time support to families, over the telephone, by email, and in person
• campaigned to make sure endocrinologists in the UK start to test young boys with primary idiopathic adrenal insufficiency for the ALD gene

1st Maidenhead Scouts

An incredible group helping young people step away from social media and experience in new adventures. Scouts develop skills including teamwork, time management, leadership, initiative, planning, communication, self-motivation, cultural awareness and commitment. They help young people to get jobs, save lives and even change the world.
I cannot believe the time the adults give to this out of the goodness of their hearts and want to do my bit to continue to support them to give our kids a bit of good old fashioned life skills and fun and simply be kids!
