July 10th 2016 my Mam died in her sleep. She was 49 years old and passed away from a heart failure- due to complications caused by Diabetes. For me and my family, it was sudden and unexpected and something we are still processing.

We were always concerned about Mam and how she managed her Diabetes. She felt like it took over her life. I want to raise money to support others with Diabetes and help create awareness of the support that is out there.

April 15th I am completing a tandem skydive at 15,000 feet to raise as much money as possible! To put it in perspective how big a challenge this is- I won't go on a rollercoaster- so be thinking of me! ha!

I am hoping to raise money for 2 organisations- Diabetes UK and The Recover Clinic. I would like to split whatever money raised 50/50 for both organisations.

Diabetes UK’s mission is to transform the care and prevention of all forms of diabetes and to help find a cure. (www.diabetes.org.uk)

The Recover Clinic is the first clinic in the UK that offers support and intervention for people with Diabulemia (an eating disorder where type 1 diabetics cut out their insulin to lose weight). (www.therecoverclinic.co.uk)

So, with all that in mind- Let's make sure that all the other "Gillian's" out there- find the support they need.
