Story
Our family are trying to raise funds for both the Kettering Hospital Intensive Care Unit and Watford's peace hospice in memory of our beloved mum and wife Marilyn.
It was Mum's wish for no floral tributes in her memory as she would rather any monies go to a the above mentioned.
Mum was looked after in Kettering ICU and the devotion we all received from the wonderful staff there will live on with us. Mum was treated with the utmost care and dignity and in such a calm environment. We got to spend our last precious days at mum's side comforting her, something we will be forever grateful for.
We read the many stories of care received by other patients in their own battles, battles we could not even begin to imagine. The dedication and professionalism of this unit in the critical care and rehabilitation of such ill patients never wains and the support to the many family members in such varied emotional states is something I have never experienced before, ever.
Even with the constant care this unit delivers the staff still, in their own time, continue to fundraise in the efforts to deliver an even higher level of care. Numerous live saving pieces of equipment through to machines that help patients locked inside bodies battling for survival communicate with staff and loved ones.
The Watford Peace hospice has also touched the lives of many thousands of terminally ill patients live out their last moments in comfort with their families and friends whilst receiving non stop care.
Hopefully no one reading this will ever need the help and care of either. Our pledge goes out to help those that will. We never believed we would..
Thank you for taking time to read this and any donations no mater how large or small will be gratefully received.
George, Gary and Kevin
