I'm volunteering in Burkina Faso to help strengthen the position of female farmers through beekeeping. We're raising money to help sustainably aid those in an impoverished society that need it most.

Over the last few decades’ efforts have been made to reduce inequalities between men and women however, these inequalities still persist. International conflict and global warming have differing consequences for men and women. Today, women represent 70 per cent of people in poverty worldwide. Therefore, it is imperative to focus on the fate of women in issues of development.

Realizing this, APIL is campaigning to maintain their beekeeping programme, strengthening female farmers’ capacity to maintain the bee population within Burkina Faso. APIL strives to introduce more humane techniques which do not kill the bees when honey is harvested.
Maintaining the bee population is key to improving sustainable development and helping women break out of the cycle of poverty.
