Story
On the 28th May 2018 Lee will be taking part in a ramp rollover at the Belle Vue dog track Manchester. This involves Lee completing a lap of the track to pick up speed then will hit a ramp with two wheels and flip his car.
Lee is going to raise money for the Kira Gwillym Foundation.
Kira’s story
On the 28th March 2015 our lives changed forever. We lost a truly special member of our family, the light of all our lives, our beloved Kira Abbie Gwillym. Kira was just 20 years old when she grew her angel wings.
Kira had been unwell for a little while with symptoms including a persistent cough, tiredness and breathlessness. She had been back and to visiting the doctor and was treated for different things; a chest infection and kidney infection, sinus problems, however her symptoms still persisted.
Asthma was not on any of our radars until she was referred to the Asthma nurse towards the end of March. She was given a brown preventative inhaler but unfortunately Kira grew her wings and went to heaven just 3 days later. Both Kira's sister - Jordan and brother - Rhys have asthmatic coughs but Kira's cough was different to theirs. Kira had been given an inhaler when she was about 7 but out of the 3 children she was the one that never really suffered as she was growing up.
When Kira's cause of death was confirmed at Status Asthmaticus it came as a massive shock to us all.
We now as a family want to raise awareness about asthma and it seriousness. Most deaths due to asthma can be avoided with the correct asthma awareness.
Also we are hoping to raise funds to be able to offer support to families like ours who suffer the death of a young person.
We are determined that Kira's memory will live on.
