Story
My name is Sandy Meikle. I am a father of 3 children, two of which are Autistic. My daughter Steevi age 7 has Aspergers Syndrom and attends mainstream school and my son Charlie age 5 has 'classic Autism' and attends a local additional needs school called Kilpatrick Schools Campus.
The school serves children in West Dunbartonshire from preschoolers up to the age of 18 when they leave high school. Children's needs are varied from complex disabilities to learning impairments so this school is so important to our community. Since starting in primary one last year my son charlie has progressed vastly. He is more sociable and can communicate verbally a lot more and has learned lots in his first year.
Recently the campus was given an all new state of thr art high school by our local authority.
I, along with a few others have done the tough mudder event for two years in aid of a local autism charity with great success and generosity from friends, family and local people donating to our cause.
This year me and my team which consists of Alan Robertson, Wendy Blair, Kellie Grumball and Charlotte Nott are taking part in Tough Mudder Scotland 2017 to raise money for outdoor equipment for Kilpatrick School's new playgrounds and gardens.
After speaking to all areas of the school they would love to put the money we raise towards:
New gardening equipment
Outdoor play resources
Benches
Storage
These things will help the kids massively as it will empower them with the tools to shape their own school, create sensory gardens, crow plants and vegetables and more importantly become more sociable and confident with their peers.
Please give generously to this cause as every single pupil in this school deserves it!
Thanks you in advance.
