    Story

Hi my name is kim hopkins

i have worked hard in my 47 years of employment, i started work at 14 as a supermarket assistant to progress into an apprenticeship and passed as a carpenter and joiner. I still work as a maintenence supervisor, i have been healthy and active all my life. Recently i was suffering with bad headaches so i went to the opticians for tests, everything was fine. My wife being a staff nurse, told me to go and see my GP. So doing as i was told, i did. The GP sent me for multiple blood tests (full mot) i went straight away that morning. Within three hours of my tests, i had a phone call to return to the GP by 3pm. I was told i had suspected prostate cancer and they needed to do further tests. I had biopsies and a bone scan within a week, the results came back positive. I have advanced aggressive prostate cancer. Ive had no symptoms at all, i was told ive had this for approximately 18 months! I would like to raise funds to start a screening process in males from the age of 45 plus. If i was diagnosed earlier i could have been treated with one simple daily tablet. Now i have to undergo hormone and chemotherapy that is expensive to the NHS. My aim is to make as many males as possible aware of this silent disease. If you could donate however big or small amount to this great cause. Even £1 makes a tremendous difference, it would be much appreciated. Thank you all in anticipation.

Hi guys I am not raising money for myself I am trying to get the NHS to do a simple blood test screening for males of 45 and over to check your PSA levels in your prostate Average level is approx 4.2 Mine was 105.4 if I had a blood screening test every 2 years after 45 I probably wouldn’t have prostate cancer now The difference is if I was diagnosed early I could have been treated with a daily tablet But now I’m having to go through steroid, hormone and chemotherapy treatment which is very expensive to the NHS please help if you can Thanks
