At our 20 week scan we were given the awfull news that our babys heart hadnt formed properly and our baby boy was diagnosed with a heart condition called AVSD ( Atrioventricula septal defect) the rest of the pregnancy was a whirlwind preparing for the worst and not knowing what was to come. On the 13th january our baby boy Eliott entered the world happy and healthy. Less than 24 hours later he then went downhill was rushed away from us and spent a week in the neonatal intensive care unit needing oxygen fighting. We finally got our baby home and started planning for him to undergo the open heart surgery that would change his life. Now at 4 months old were awaiting our surgery date within the next two months where we will have a minimum of 7 days stay in Great Ormond Street Hospital waiting for Eliott to make it through surgery. Me and my partner will both need time off work to enable us to stay with Eliott in london, and up to two months recovery after.
