    Story

Our radically joyful and heart-powered initiative brings talented female migrant cooks into paid work. Houria provides safe employment, training and skills-sharing opportunities for women who are migrants and who are often survivors of slavery.

Many refugee women have survived situations of modern slavery, such as trafficking and domestic servitude. At Houria we understand that modern slavery is racialised and gendered. We actively centralise and elevate these women, our Sisters, in a safe and encouraging environment.

We are now raising funds to deliver our 6 month FoodWise training programme to ten members of our Sisterhood.

The programme will help the women develop skills for employability in the catering and hospitality industry and will be delivered by our in-house training team in a variety of practical and classroom settings in Bristol.

Our social enterprise is grassroots, young and ambitious. We are proud to say that we have kept our heads above water during the pandemic by diversifying our offer and adjusting to the regulations set out by the government. We are resilient and tenacious and we will make this dream for Houria a reality.

Will you be part of our joyful, soulful, delicious movement?

We are grateful for all donations. Thank you for your support in advance.
