This fund-raiser is for my partner KimLai, or just Kim for short. We have been together now for 8 years, and in that time have spent large periods of time, apart. Kim currently lives in the Philippines with her family, after another failed visa application and even with their best efforts, they basically struggle to get by each month. As the Philippines is a country which has abject poverty in many areas, I regularly send money there to help her afford her HRT and her family out but this is a situation we’d dearly love to improve upon in the future.

This is where the fund-raising comes in. We have tried multiple times, at not insignificant expense each time, to have Kim come to the UK on a permanent basis but with her limited funds there, discrimination faced as a trans woman, and her skill set not being one of the required jobs for UK migration, her visa has been refused each time. Upon doing some research we have realised there is a way to enable her to change her life, and by extension, her future, & that of her family.

If we are able to raise the required funding, it will be used to pay for Kim to study in the UK in the career path of nursing for a 2 year period, enhancing not only her skill set but also her future career prospects. This would also make it easier in future for migration to the UK on a more permanent basis should she choose to do so. This is the first year of the course path we’d follow

As she would be classed as an overseas student, she is required to pay the entire tuition fee up front, which is approximately £6350 per year. This is where the goal of comes from. I have revised the campaign for just the first year. We will work on the second year while she is here.

If you are able to donate, even the minimum, it will go some way to changing the lives of many people, myself included. This is basically the last resort we have, after exhausting every avenue personally, we ask for the kindness of strangers, and hope the world shines favourably on us.

If the goal is reached I will be happy to provide proof of every single penny of expenditure, and there is any extra once everything is paid, I will gladly donate this to charity.
