Story

Being told you have cancer is like someone exploding a bomb in your life. It will never be the same again.

That's what happened to me this year. "I think it's very likely cancer" my gynaecologist told me - and it was. I woke up from surgery to have the news confirmed. Because it had spread into a couple of lymph nodes, I've needed chemo. I'm halfway through and doing ok, but I need your help.

A a freelancer (and not that well-paid), I don't have savings to tide me over. Nor do I qualify for state help. I have no partner or parents to help pay the bills. But I still have rent to pay and all the other costs. That's where you can really make a difference. If I can raise my target it will mean that I won't have to worry about paying rent. I'm pushing myself to work when I can but I really should be resting more.

I've coped well with chemo so far but it's going to get harder with each cycle. Whatever you can spare will really make a difference. Nothing is too small, it all adds up. Please help. I've been dealt a rotten hand but I'm trying to handle it with as much grace and courage as I can find. Cancer will not bring me down. Help me fight it.

Because of circumstances outside my control (a shitty roommate who then stole most of my deposit - yes, people really do steal from cancer patients), I found myself homeless when I left hospital. Since then, I have been in four temporary homes in THREE months, often not knowing where I would be sleeping the next week. This kind of insecurity is horrible at any time, but when you're going through chemo ... well, just imagine how it would feel. Flatshares here are in great demand. If I could make my goal I might be able to rent a studio.

What can your donations do for me? They mean that I can rest instead of working (I've been pushing myself to do work sometimes when I'm really not fit). They mean I'll be able to pay my rent and other costs. They give me peace of mind. If I could reach my goal (and there are only 12 days to go), I'll have some security for my treatment and recovery time. If I can exceed my goal, I'll have extra security if I need more treatment. I am in a difficult situation through no fault of my own, please have compassion and donate.

They mean I'll be able to pay my rent and other costs. They give me peace of mind. If I could reach my goal (and there are only 12 days to go) I'd be able to pay my rent for months. If I could raise even more, I'll have some security should I need more treatment, and also for the future. I am in a difficult situation through no fault of my own, so please have compassion and donate.
