Hello one and all, and thank you for looking at my JustGiving CrowdFunding page (and hopefully considering a donation).

For those of you who don't know me, firstly mad props for considering giving a complete randomer to help them achieve something, secondly I have lived in the UK now for 23 years and yet I do not have citizenship. Although I have paid all sorts of taxes into the system over the years, I have no say in how it is spent or who controls it as I am not allowed to vote because I am only a Resident not a full-fledged Citizen. In order to become a Citizen I have to complete an application form (fair enough, makes sense), provide supporting documents (seems perfectly reasonable) and pay the application fee of £1,236.00 (...wait, what?).

Now the people that do know me will know that I'm not really very good at asking for help so I'm completely out of my comfort zone here, and I do appreciate that there are others in the world far less fortunate than myself, but it's just me over here and that's a lot of money for me. So I thought I'd give it a try and ask for help in a big way!

You may ask why getting citizenship is so important to me if I have managed to get along without it until now.

Well it's simple really, I am as British as I am American and it is about time that it's official! If for any reason I was kicked out and had to live in the states I would be devastated and completely out of place. I have never really had any true sense of security in my life and have never really put down roots, and that is what I need and want - to finally feel I belong somewhere and no one can take it away from me.
