What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.

Story

At KSA, we LOVE to read. We know that the more we read, the more we know and that the more we know, the further we'll go...

This year, we have reviewed our whole primary English curriculum which has meant we've spent a huge amount on new class books. We chose those texts really carefully and we're delighted to see our pupils devouring them together and really feeling the joy of reading.

However, we desperately need to replenish the books in our class libraries: partly because when books get handed round and round, they start to get tired and need replacing; partly because there are many brilliant titles out there that our pupils are desperate to read but can't get their hands on at their local library or at home.

Unfortunately, in the current financial climate, with schools' funding being radically cut, we are forced to make difficult decisions about how the money we do have gets spent. We chose to prioritise buying the new class texts so I'm turning to the power of fundraising to see if we can get the books we need for our class libraries too.

I'd like to be able to buy at least 60 new books for each year group. You can look at this as one per pupil OR as more than a book a week for each pupil over the course of a whole year...

So! We're running a readathon over the Summer holidays. Pupils and staff alike are asking family and friends to support us in our reading challenge by either sponsoring us per book we read or as a one off donation.

A new book costs around £7 if that helps guide your donation choices but we'd be delighted with whatever you're willing to give! (and thanks also for reading this far...)

Hope you reach your target. Reading is an essential skill and all children should have access to books.
