Story
Lenzie Academy Community Engagement was set up to encourage pupil led social action. It made an #iwill pledge to "encourage as many pupils as possible to work with others and for others".
At the end of its first academic year LACE is holding a Big Lunch and Saltire Awards ceremony where the pupils, friends , family and community can join together to celebrate our connections through food and stories. Any pupil who has accrued more than 10 hours volunteering can receive their Saltire Award certificate from Elizabeth Wright FRSA paralympic swimming medalist .As this is our first ever Big Lunch the draw of good food may be what encourages our teenagers to come to school on a Saturday

6 years agoThe second part of #TheBigWalk began at EDVA where we discussed LACE's involvement with a range of charities through YPI and adoption of charities by the pupil houses and social groups. The last stop was back in the centre of Lenzie where our senior pupils who have undergone dementia training have developed a relationship with Lenzie's come and sing dementia friendly singing group. We shared lunch and songs with the Big Walkers and wished them well on their way East to Stirlingshire
