Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
On Monday, 2 July, my son took the family's dog, Lady, out for a short walk, when she was violently attacked by an out of control and much larger dog, after barely leaving the front door.
The cover photo of Lady is taken shortly after the attack, prior to treatment at the Animal Hospital. She has been regularly seeing the Vet since, and they have described it as one of the worst dog attacks they have seen, with her deep wounds having to be stitched after early fears that her lungs were punctured too. In addition to the stitches, she had a patch of necrotic skin, which was removed on the weekend of 7/8 July (the photo attached to this story, shows the stitches and the necrotic area prior to its removal).
The owner of the responsible dog refused to give his necessary details to us or the Police, who did not do anything to investigate what happened when called to the scene, showing very limited interest in it.
So far the Vets' bill has exceeded £2,000 and will go on to be at least £3,000 as there is more treatment to come due to the removal of stitches and the size of the wound from where the patch of necrotic skin has been removed.
We are heartbroken at what has happened to Lady and she has endured a lot of pain, so we are trying to ensure that she recovers in the best way possible. However, finances are currently proving a barrier to that and the treatment thus far is causing us immense financial hardship. The owner of the other dog is seemingly unwilling to contribute and we are unable to take court action for a multitude of reasons, such as fears for our own safety and police negligence at the scene of the crime.
