    Story

With the help of UnitedAct and Equality Myanmar, Project Lalasoa is aiming to go live in the first quarter of 2017.

The project will provide customised mobile playgrounds for the use of more than 180 children a week. These children currently live in desolation and poverty, often turning to glue sniffing and other drugs as a means of escapism.

The United Nations states that all children have a right to freedom of play, yet when asked in a 2016 survey by streetchild.org, thousands of homeless or deprived children in third world S.E. Asia felt that they couldn't play safely, that officials moved them away, that they were outcasts from society.

Natalie and I, working with UnitedAct and Equality Myanmar, aim to bring an alternative form of escape for these children, through play. Play that will engage them in critical thinking skills, social situations with their peers, and above all allow them to be the children they are.

As we move forward proposals for international funding are being submitted to various organisations however there will always be more that can be done and any donation to Project Lalasoa directly impacts the lives of the children we aim to help.

The monthly running costs of a single van, without staffing, including vehicle upkeep, fuel, clean drinking water and the toys/games themselves equates to approximately $650, or £500.

In January 2017 I will be running my first ever marathon, through the streets of Yangon that we will be aiming to help. My training will include routes through these areas so I can document for you, through videos and photos, the challenges faced in these areas.

So please, get behind my 'Run for Fun' cause and help us help them.
