Story

Landport Community Cafe first opened it's doors in April 2017 and has been serving tasty homemade meals to the residents of Landport and beyond, every Friday, ever since. The cafe is open to all and guests are invited to 'pay what they feel' for food made mainly from ingredients bound for landfill. The aim of the cafe is to bring the community together for an affordable meal, whilst addressing the issues of food waste, food poevrty and isolation.

The cafe is now adapting as part of the response to the Corona Virus epidemic, by safely delivering meals to local residents; focusing on immediate neighbours, people accessing food banks in Lewes, those who are unwell or isolating.

The cafe is run as a not for profit and will be using it's limited surplus funds to buy in ingredients, takeaway containers and paper bags for deliveries, but we are fundraising to make this sustainable for the weeks and possibly months to come.

The weekly delivery service will be operational from Friday 10 April 2020
