    Story

Lands End to John O' Groats by bike for Dudley.

Traditional distance by road is 874 miles(1407km) and takes most cyclists 10-14 days. Elevation gain of 30,148ft and elevation fall of 30,272ft.

Neil and Matt (April 10th 2019).The are not used to cycling but have started to train.

Dudley Firkins was was diagnosed with Oesophageal Cancer in November 2017. After months of surgery and unpleasant Chemotherapy the prognosis in December 2018 was that the cancer had returned. His condition was terminal. Dudley received palliative care at home which he shared with his wife Debbie and two young children, aged 5 and 9. Dudley also has grown up children and grandchildren. He was later admitted to St Helena Hospice until he sadly passed away on the 7th of March 2019 with his wife by his side.

Dudley had always worked as a panel beater and had spent nearly 30 years working at Greenspeed in Weeley Heath for brothers Alan and Martin Green. He was an extremely treasured member of the team and was regarded as a member of the family to the partners. Sadly we understood that we could not help Dudley but we assured him that financially our fundraiser will help his beloved family.

This is not the first time Neil and Matt have fundraised for someone. They did the 3 Peaks Challenge in 2017 for a grieving family who lost their husband/father/grandfather in a tragic accident when a car crushed him against a pub in St Osyth (The Hoy, Neil's pub) They also did the 3 peaks Challenge a further 3 times in 2018 for Sophie George 27,who was diagnosed with a Glioblastoma. Between these events and a football match they raised round £10,000.

For this event we are asking you to donate via this page.

We appreciate that you probably get approached a lot to help with events but this event is such a huge task for Neil and Matt who didn't even own bikes before deciding to take on this fundraiser.

We sincerely hope that you can help them in some way achieve this .

Thank you in advance for any help you are able to give.

    Yours Faithfully,

Dominie Wells Young and Alison Woodcraft (The wives!)

Neil has set off this morning, unfortunately Matt was unable to start with him due to personal circumstances but is planning to fly up and join him for the last leg.
