It is time to embrace the importance of plants in Zambia!
The oxygen we breath and everything we eat originates from PLANTS.

Do you think it would be good to have an International Plant conference in Livingstone in 2020/1?
Would you like to assist to make a bid to make this happen?
This is an excellent opportunity to show case our beautiful botanically rich country to the rest of the world.

The bid would be made at the Nairobi AETFAT on 19th May 2017.

Every 3 to 4 years a plant conference called AETFAT (Association pour l'Etude Taxonomique de la Flora d'Afrique Tropicale= Association for The study of the Flora of Tropical Africa taxanomy) is held for scientists from all over the world to present their research on plants and fungus of Tropical Africa.

It has never been hosted in Zambia before.

Such a conference would:
• raise Zambia's profile in the world of botany
• raise the emphasis of taxonomy and the importance of biodiversity within the country
• give economic advantages associated with about 500 delegates staying in Zambia for the congress and the additional income from people encouraged to stay and enjoy the many tourist attractions Zambia has to offer.
We need to pitch a very slick presentation in Nairobi (where the next conference is being held in May 2017).

To do this we need to raise at least USD10,000. In December Lari (Linda) Merrett and Willie Mwaba completed a 1000km bike ride through the bush, mostly on dirt tracks celebrating Zambia's beautiful bush which raised just over USD3000.
