Last year on October 18th I gave birth to my little son Theo. Theo’s heart stopped beating starving him from oxygen for 7minutes resulting in him being on life support for a couples of days whilst he fought for his life.

Ronald McDonald House gave a room to my husband and I meaning we could be beside Theo 24/7 giving him all the support he needed. He was there for two weeks, and it gave me the opportunity to still walk downstairs to help with feeds, medicines etc, meaning I could still do all the things I would and should be doing as a new parent.

The Ronald McDonald House at Arrowe Park Hospital is situated inside the hospital itself, occupying the first floor and providing respite for families quite literally seconds from their sick child's bed. The facility is equipped with 7 en-suite rooms in which families can relax – away from the busy ward. There is a kitchen with laundry facilities, where families can cook and be together, just as they would at home, to make sure they can wake from a night's stay well rested, well fed and feeling ready for whatever the day may bring.

This year has been one of the hardest, I myself have been diagnosed with Post Traumatic Stress and I go on a weekly basis to see a CBT Therapist, something I am not ashamed of. My aim is to raise £5,000 to fund a room at RMDH under Theo’s name so other families can be near their extremely sick or premature babies. This is something so small but something that helps me knowing I (we) are helping others.
