    Story

Steve Paton, 59, was born and bred in Kingsteignton. A well known character around Newton Abbot and Ipplepen where he has lived for the last 15 years with his partner Sally and their dogs. Steve has been heavily affiliated with Newton Abbot Spurs and like his Dad before him, is an honorary life member.

Steve has worked in the Groundworks and Civil engineering industry most of his working life until September 2016.

Recently Steve has been diagnosed with terminal brain tumours. Managing pain and seizures for the past few months, preparing to start Chemo and Radiotherapy in a bid to prolong his life.

Unfortunately as if his life had not become challenging enough, Steve's mobility has rapidly declined. Wear and tear of his hip joint over the years has been exasperated by his recent steroid use and he now needs a hip replacement. Their bathroom is no longer suited to Steve's needs and currently he can not shower in his own home.

Steve has always been of a cheerful disposition and has remained positive irrespective of the horrid hand he has been dealt, in the face of adversity. The reality of facing any form of cancer is horrendous and everyday living has quickly become difficult for Steve and those caring for him.

In a bid to make him feel human again, improve his standard of life and show him how much he is cared about, we are fundraising to install a wet room in their home.

Any help would be truly appreciated and thank you to all who have already offered overwhelming support.

    Thank you,

Laura - on behalf of those who know and love him.x

Thank you so much to everyone for donations and also practical support. We have even had a donation from America this week! Steve went into hospital yesterday and is currently having an operation on his hip. 😊
