My name is Murray MacNeil and I am a Junior Cadet at Stonehaven Sea Cadets.

Sea Cadets is great fun especially in the summer when we have a chance to enjoy sailing, kayaking and other water sports. It is also a chance to make new friends and be involved in training such as the Duke of Edinburgh awards and NVQ’s in engineering and boat handling skills. The community of Stonehaven have a great interest in Cadets and many residents have been cadets and are still volunteers at the unit.

Stonehaven Sea cadets was established in 1956 and their premises are very old. The unit have been raising funds for a very long time for their new headquarters opposite the harbour. Many volunteers have given their time for free to work on the unit – joiners, electricians etc and we are getting very close to the completion. The amount we had to raise was about £700,000.00. We are nearly there with more or less £140,000 needed to finish the building.

I am raising funds to help complete this project with the help of Lairhillock Breakfast Club. I will be baking for 2 weeks and selling my wares with the help of some of my classmates.
