    Story

My name is Leanne I am 24 years old, married and am a mum to three gorgeous young children who are 3,2 and 10months, in November last year I become unwell and was admitted to hospital with sudden loss of feeling and sensation from the waist down, sadly I ended up spending 10weeks in total in hospital and was given a diagnosis of a rare condition called transverse myelitis, this is a condition which causes sever inflammation on my spinal cord unfortunately we do not know the cause for why this happened to me and I have had all treatments for this condition but sadly none has worked or made any difference to me. I am now left paralysed from the waist down and now need carers and family to help look after me. The health services will not provide me with an outdoor electric wheelchair only a basic indoor one, which means we can not go out as a family without having someone come with us as my husband can not push me in a wheelchair and our 10month old daughter in her pram, as you can imagine these kind of wheelchairs are very expensive and we can not afford to buy one on our own,, by having this chair it will give me independence and will enable me to do a lot more with my children on my own. This condition has taken us all by shock and has completely turned our lives upside down, I've gone from being the mum who does everything to someone who needs help with everything, there is no garantee I will ever walk again only time and physio therapy will tell but the longer I don't walk the less likely it is that I will, I no longer live a normal life and am left housebound most of time as at the moment I can not transfer into our car and can not go out with my husband and children as I don't have an electric chair, it's taken a lot for me to set up this page but I know without that peice of equipment I will not be able to live a more normal, independent life.
Thank you for taking your time and reading my story.
    Leanne :) 💜
