Harry was born two months premature at St Helier hospital and during his time in the neo-natal intensive care unit a routine scan on his brain discovered an upper motor neuron lesion. This was classed under the large umbrella that covers cerebral palsy. Harry’s parents were told very early on that Harry would need help in most things and wouldn’t crawl, sit up on his own and he wouldn’t walk. After lots of research they discovered a private clinic in Toronto, Canada where they have taken Harry for three trips so far. The results speak for themselves, Harry can now sit up on his own, move on to his knees and crawl, he can even handle a special knife, fork and spoon and feed himself. He crawls everywhere and can even climb the stairs. The most amazing thing is Harry is now learning to take his own steps with the use of a walking frame.

The cost of these trips is expensive though so any help that can be given is greatly appreciated. The treatment itself consists of 4 weeks intensive physio and massage therapy, re-training Harry’s brain as to what his muscles can do and what they are capable of which costs around £5,000 and then there are the flights and the accommodation as well which means one 4 week trip costs around £10,000 but to see the progress Harry has made makes it worth every penny.
