    Story

A few years back our beautiful happy and healthy 5 year old daughter suddenly collapsed on fathers day after telling us she had a headache, on arriving at our local hospital we were informed our daughter paige had suffered a substantial bleed on the brain and needed emergency surgery if she was to survive. We were transferred to St Georges hospital in Tooting and there our daughters life changing journey began.. She was in intensive care and we were told the full extent of her bleed. Nobody knew for certain if she would regain consciousness and ever recover from this ordeal. within hours a neuro team under Doc Martin , performed surgery to save our beautiful baby and a miracle occurred after an agonising wait he had removed the AVM (Tumor) that erupted at the front lobe of her brain , we were told that we would not know the extent of the brain damage but we were lucky at the position of the bleed. Within hours she was awake with a shunt placed inside her head to drain the blood slowly away, as each agonising hour passed she began to improve. The days and weeks that followed were draining and exhausting, we stayed with paige the whole step of the way thanks to family and friends. The hospital allowed us to stay next to paiges bedside and daddy on the ward so we didn't have to leave her, the staff were amazing. Slowly paige regained strength and within weeks she amazed doctors by getting out of her bed and walking and talking once again. Within three weeks of her stay our daughter walked out of St Georges hospital a healthy little girl. over the coming months paige made a full recovery. We can never thank the staff and Mr Martin enough for all there help in such a difficult time and feel we would like to give something back , We are raising funds to donate to the ocean ward to give each child a present on Christmas day and to buy learning equipment for the amazing play staff that assist in helping children with recovery.

I am Paiges Dad , and I am fundraising for the neuro ward of St Georges Hospital, in Tooting who treat children with all kinds of neurological conditions . The hospital and staff were fantastic , and with out their care my daughter would probably not be alive today.
