    Story

Lee was diagnosed with an A-typical form of Multiple Sclerosis nearly 6 years ago at the age of 27. MS effects an estimated 2,500,000 people in the world and research suggests that the proportion of women with MS is increasing and that roughly between two and three women have MS for every man with the condition.

MS effects everyone differently and unfortunately Lee’s illness over the years has been very agressive. Lee has had 3 major relapses each causing more and more permanent damage to the nerves in his spinal cord and optic nerves. This has meant that walking short distances with his walking sticks is difficult for him and anything further, Lee relies on the use of his wheelchair. He is also registered Severely Sight Impaired.

Despite all the negatives Lee remains very positive. He is not one to be held back by his limitations and has made it his mission to defy the odds. Just last year he proved many wrong by completing a half marathon row on a gyms rowing machine using only his upper body. Lee raised £1,183.88 for the North Herts MS Society Branch.

Lee’s current aim is to complete the London marathon in an everyday wheelchair with Michelle (Lee's wife) as his running guide. But in order to do so he needs a light weight wheelchair as his current wheelchair is very wide, heavy and cumbersome.

We are raising money to help Lee on his way to achieving his goal in getting a new wheelchair so he is able to take part in a marathon and raise more money for Multiple Sclerosis.

We are close friends of Lee. We see the regular struggles that living with MS can cause. Lee's strong determination and motivation to not let his condition hold him back, has motivated us to help his cause of completing a marathon so he can help give back to others this affects
