Dear Friends,

I am taking on this challenge of 50km in 5days hiking up and down, and up and down, and up, and up, and up, and down, and down, and down, and back up THE GREAT WALL OF CHINA.

I will be hiking up and down thousands upon thousands of stairs for between 5-8 hours per day for 5 days.

The hike will include un-renovated sections of the wall, with crumbling steps, shrubbery and rocks with extremely steep stair climbs at times, and sections with steep drops on either side. I will be staying in basic local lodges and eating local Chinese food (don’t think Shangri-La or delicious Dim Sum and Peking duck)

I have picked this event as it seems quite fitting for the cause in which I am raising money for as, like with my hike, it will involve many steps and I’m sure many struggles. The funds raised are to give some assistance for those people who are affected by addiction and struggle with the financial aspect of getting into a treatment center and being given the tools to live a life free of this condition which not only affects themselves but their family and friends as well.

I am self-funding this event and all proceeds will go directly towards the treatment of individuals that will be selected for treatment at a recovery center in Portugal called Nova Vida, which is a residential center and the program is around 28 days.

So I hereby ask you please to donate for this very worthwhile cause. Recovery treatment can be quite expensive so I ask you to give as generously as possible so we can help as many people as possible.
