    Story

Teddy 20 is a children's cancer charity founded by Owen Newton and his family after they lost their 10 year old Son and Brother Ted to Ewing's Sarcoma, a very rare bone cancer.

Teddy 20 began in 2009, with a charity cricket match organised by Ted's father Owen Newton. He called upon the cricketing community of Blandford, Dorset, to support him in raising money for cancer research and to financially support local children and their families who are going through cancer, whether this be a day trip out, restbite holidays, costs towards treatment or helping with funeral costs.

Due to the overwhelming success of the event, they raised £10,000 and this inspired Owen and his family to found Teddy 20. In May 2014 Teddy 20 became a registered charity in England and Wales and has continued to grow and organises fundraising balls, challenges and Teddy Rocks Festival.

One of Teddy20's main projects is Ted's Shack, a holiday home in Weymouth for children undergoing cancer treatment. It was launched in 2015 and has since provided well-needed breaks and a chance to create treasured memories for many families.

By offering a free, home from home holiday providing much needed breaks away from the hospital environment allows the children and their family to spend quality time together and make precious memories.. Memories that are priceless.

For 2018, Teddy 20 have organised their 3rd charity challenge bike ride - Le Teddy Tour 2018 – 4 countries 4 days. This challenge will involve cycling across 4 countries; France, Belgium, Holland and Germany, from the 7th June 2018 – 12th June 2018.

I will be jumping on the saddle to help raise money for Teddy 20.

I never imagined what it must be like to have a child suffering with cancer. But when I met my girlfriend Carrie , one of the first things that I learned was that her son 5 year old son Tyler suffered from Leukemia. As a family we have been invited to many charity days....and everyone of them are amazing but Teddy20 headed by Owen really stuck in my mind, and that day I found out that one more rider was needed. As a British Soldier, I‘m never one to turn down a challenge and personally for me, this will be one of my greatest accomplishments. I do this for Tyler and all the brave little warriors who go through the strain of having cancer but keep smiling, no matter how hard the journey will be. I also do this for all those who lost their battle and those they left behind.

You can help by sponsoring me on this epic journey which will help to continue the support of children and young people by providing financial support to the families who may be struggling to meet the everyday demands of their child’s treatment.

Please help make a difference in our community and others by donating a sum however big or small and help me reach my target.
