Richard was a hard working man, bringing up 3 boys with his wife Sandy. Using his skills in building work, electrics & plumbing (plus lots more) he's always worked, and been there to help anyone and everyone.

Rich suffered a serious stroke in September 2012, Rich was in hospital for over 9 weeks and over 6 months in a rehabilitation unit to try and gain back his life. Unfortuntely he lost most of his speech and hasn't regained the use of his left side, and is therefore confined to a wheelchair. It's been an uphill struggle for them both to gain any help, purely because Sandy works full time. This means they don't qualify for the benefits needed to make their house wheelchair friendly, have a wet room or gain a grant for the deposit on a mobility car. Of all these problems the mobility is the worst, Sandy struggles daily to get Richard in and out of their small hatchback car, and he has been unable to get around with his electric wheelchair as the car they have is just too small.
