Hi guys! I am running the Leeds Half Marathon on the 14th of May and this year I am raising money for my mum to travel to South Africa for medical attention. My mum has recently been indicated to have major problems with her heart after a period of suffering from chest pains, breathlessness, palpitations, very swollen legs and light-headedness. As she lives in Zimbabwe, the medical treatment is inadequate yet very expensive with the already underprivileged public having to pay just for walking in to see the doctor, then pay for any investigations undertaken and then pay for the treatment and there is no financial support to meet medical needs. So far I have spent a considerable amount of money in medical trips to various towns and my mum has undergone various medical investigations but yet still the diagnosis and the treatment she requires remains inconclusive. The main indication from scans has shown a build-up of excess fluid inside the pericardium, a sac surrounding the heart. One of the doctors indicated that the complications with the excess fluid could be worsen to a condition called cardiac tamponade which is a serious and life threatening condition that requires emergency treatment. I really want my mum to get treatment before her condition worsens.

I have now decided that in order to get the adequate medical attention she requires, my mum will be better of travelling to South Africa where she will hopefully get a conclusive diagnosis and subsequent treatment. However this costs a substantial amount of money which I currently can't afford and hence I am asking for your support in achieving this. She requires funds to cover travelling costs, accommodation, medical investigations and the treatment. Your efforts and contributions are greatly appreciated. Thank You!
