Story
I want to raise funds to go directly to Lazonby and District Community First Responders to thank them for the work they do and to help them save lives in the future. When someone has a cardiac arrest, the time that passes before CPR is begun and a defibrillator activated, is vital. The quicker that help is given the greater the chances of survival. If you are lucky enough to survive, the speed can also limit the damage caused elsewhere in the body. How do I know this? Because on the 15th July 2018 my father's heart stopped beating properly. He had a cardiac arrest. Had my mother and sister not been there, he quite simply would not be here today. They are trained first responders and were able to administer CPR immediately and access a defibrillator to shock his heart back into action. They saved his life. Where they live, is some distance away from the nearest hospital. The first person who attended after the 999 call was a First Responder. She joined in helping my mum and sister. First Responders live locally and can be there so much faster than an ambulance can. Their care and professionalism genuinely saves lives. I can not tell you how sickening it was to wait in the road and hear the sirens from the ambulance echoing around the valley for minutes and minutes before they finally appeared. Those minutes and seconds are golden. The work CFR volunteers do is incredible. They give up their time to learn the skills to save lives. They make defibs more available and they also train others in how to use them and learn CPR. My mum and sister have worked with them for years and my mum is still actively involved with this unit. I did very little to help on the day it happened to us and this is my way of saying thank you. I want other people to have every single opportunity to have more precious moments with loved ones. My dad is a legend and after 28 hours in a coma, came back to us fighting to get back home to us as soon as he could. I love my family. We are a team. This is my contribution to the team effort, as little as it is. Last time i did this, i nearly threw up on the stairs it was so hard. I want to be quicker and less sick this time! http://totalmotionevents.co.uk/events/the-broadgate-tower-run-up-2018/

Most of you know, I am not that fit but like to try my best for a good cause. I have done this once before and if I can beat my time, that would be amazing!
