Lana's Story : A true Superhero

As some people will know our best friends Gemma and Andrew are living every parents nightmare.Our beautiful princess Lana was diagnosed with an aggressive brain tumour (ATRT) in November 2018 and that's when her fighting spirit kicked in.

Within an hour of finding out the results from the brain scan they were rushed straight to the RVI in Newcastle and was scheduled in for major brain surgery the next morning.After this she was back down within a few days to undergo her second gruelling surgery and for her third to fit a reservoir where she would receive chemo directly into her brain and also a peg fitted, this was how she would get her nutrients.

She has had 6 cycles of high dose chemo and 6 cycles of intraventricular chemo (directly into her brain).This has been full on since December and still ongoing.

What her little body has endured is just impossible to imagine unless you have seen it for yourself.She has nose bleeds so horrific that it has ended up with blood transfusions, vomiting non stop, blistered skin so sore every touch was excruciating for her so very hard for her mammy and daddy to comfort her.Even through all the pain she doesn't cry or moan about it.

She has lived in hospital for the best part of the last 6 months apart from the occasional home visits and although she has amazed everyone with how much she has fought and how well the tumour has responded to the chemo the consultants have told Gemma and Andrew that the next 18 months is a time to make every day count and build precious memories with Lana as the chances of the cancer returning within that time is pretty high.

The idea of the page is to help support them so they can focus every second on making those memories with their beautiful daughter.The money will be used to reduce financial burden on Andrew and Gemma who are unable to work at this time and will be used for anything Lana needs.
