Devyn wants to give back!

Devyn was diagnosed with a rare brain disease called Moyamoya when he was 6 years old, he will be 10 in November . For those who don't know, Moyamoya disease is a rare, progressive cerebrovascular disorder caused by blocked arteries at the base of the brain.The disease primarily affects children, but it can also occur in adults. In children, the first symptom of Moyamoya disease is often stroke, or recurrent transient ischemic attacks (TIA, commonly referred to as “mini-strokes”), frequently accompanied by muscular weakness or paralysis affecting one side of the body, or seizures.

Last September Devyn underwent brain surgery to help increase the blood flow to reduce the risk of further TIA's and haemorrhage . During the times he has been a patient in the Glasgow Royal hospital for Children he has had the continued support of some amazing people including his surgeon, the neurology doctors, the nurses on 3A and also from the Play team.

The Playteam have been a great help with Devyn keeping him upbeat, distracted and occupied whilst he gets treatment . They do a great job and are an amazing support to both the children and their families.

Devyn would like donate to the playteam to help provide additional resources for other children staying on the ward as a thank you! By doing a sponsored bike ride of 13 miles from our home to the hospital, he is hoping to raise as much money as he can with a possible with a target of £1000.00.
