Hi my name is Lisa , i have decided to run the manchester 10k not only to raise money for diabetes uk but also to raise awareness of this life changing condition . Mine and my familys story is one that is becoming far to common and since finding out that my 13 year old son has type 1 diabetes I am beginning to hear of many more children who are developing this condition. About 4 months ago life in our family as we knew it suddenly changed my teenage son became extreamly poorly and was rushed to hospital un beknown to us he had developed type 1 diabetes .This was so upsetting for my son myself and all his loved ones . we had to deal with the fact that he would be insulin dependent for the rest of his life . As can be imagined this has been an awful time and my son has been so strong and brave and adapted to this in the most amazing way . Im so proud of him and he makes me beam with pride every day seeing him cope so well . I believe that one day a cure can be found for this life threatening condition and hope with the money raised I can only offer a small helping hand into research for finding that cure and one day say goodbye to diabetes . thankyou for taking the time to read our story .
