La Leche League Edinburgh provides mother-to-mother support for all breastfeeding families at every stage of their breastfeeding journey, via regular face to face local meetings held monthly. We speak to local mothers on the phone, in their own homes and via social media. We also offer workshops, 'preparing to breastfeed' four times yearly.

Our breastfeeding counsellors listen with empathy, providing a lifeline to mothers with breastfeeding concerns. Those attending meetings find non-judgemental, mother-to-mother support, and a sense of normality and community as a breastfeeding mother. LLL Edinburgh has a small lending library for mothers, and information leaflets about breastfeeding and parenting and topics relevant to the breastfeeding family.

LLL Edinburgh is run by three local Leaders who are all qualified breastfeeding counsellors. They have funded their own training, and are volunteers receiving no payment for the work they undertake. LLL Edinburgh works closely with local NHS services but receives no NHS or government funding.

We are excited to see our group growing in popularity! To better meet the needs of breastfeeding mothers in Edinburgh, we will also use the money to open a second breastfeeding group meeting in a different part of the city. Monies raised will be used for training new breastfeeding counsellors and for continuing education to assist breastfeeding counsellors in keeping up to date with current topics in breastfeeding support.

LLL Edinburgh is the local branch of La Leche League Great Britain (LLLGB), a registered charity (number 283771) and employs less than 1.0 FTE staff.. Both the national charity and local branch rely entirely on donations and receive no government or NHS funding.
