I am running the Great North Run to raise money for two charities that are very close to my heart. If you have a strong preference for one or the other then let me know, otherwise it will be split between the two.

The second is even closer to my heart (literally). Some may know my story, some may not, but did you know that over 30% of domestic violence is against men and yet every picture, every story portrays men as abusers. In 2015-2016 there were 28 men who were killed by domestic violence compared to 78 women, yet men are 40% less likely to tell someone.

Men who are survivors are seen as 'weak' or 'letting it happen', or should 'grow some balls'. Try having someone try and stab you in the chest, scratch your face from ear to chin, leave you bloody and bruised...all because you were taught never to raise a hand to a woman. That was me.

No violence is ever acceptable towards a woman or a man.
