Story
Lollipop Youth Theatre is a non-for-profit Theatre Company based in Worcester UK for young people aged between five and nineteen. Lollipop puts on two shows a year a licensed Musical and a concert.
Lollipop cares about making everyone feel equal no matter what their ability or background and to do this we facilitate for every child's needs by encouraging everyone to go that extra mile in order to build their confidence, self esteem, and self belief. In order to do this we don't ask the children to audition to be in the company but we run several group workshops which allow the production team to see the child's strengths and weaknesses in a relaxed atmosphere. It is important to us that all children get a chance to shine and show what they are capable of in their own way. We encourage the young people to take part in lots of events across the city including carnivals, performances in the city centre, charity gigs and singing in super markets in order to give them the experience and confidence. Lollipop isn't just a theatre company but we are a family. All of Lollipop's volunteers work together to help raise funds in order to keep the company going. We have changed the lives of a lot of young people by supporting them and believing in them.
In July 2018 Lollipop will be performing their second licensed musical after the success of their first. The Musical is going to be Oliver which is a big scale show. As we are a non-for-profit company all the money we raise goes back into funding the next show. We are looking for funding to assist with the growth of Lollipop and to continue to improve the children's lives and to help us raise funds for our next show.
I have had so so so much fun over these past few months putting together such an amazing show with such amazing people. I have made so many memories that really will last a life time! I have made new friendships and even built on some old ones. Lollipop truely has been such a big part of my life helping me overcome things I never thought I could and to finally come out of my shell fully.
Absolutely buzzing. What a fantastic team to work beside. Fantastic talented children worked so hard tonight to get dress rehearsal right. Back to the 80's show is going to be amazing. Fantastic team, great friends n amazing family = Lollipop youth theatre
Well this last week has been one of the most personally rewarding experiences of my entire life. Being involved in Back to the 80s over the last six/seven months has had its ups and downs (what stage musical doesn't) but I've seen around 30 amazing kids with very different experience and confidence levels. I've had the privilege of watching them build confidence, stage craft, musical ability and awareness, as well as developing their team spirit and making new friendships.
The rest of the cast gave great support and despite in some cases their inexperience, their enjoyment was infectious. The production team headed by Director Holly Fields should be congratulated on giving the opportunity to many of the youngsters not only to gain confidence but to grow their love of theatre.
