The earthquakes and aftershocks still hasnt stopped. The death toll has climbed over 350 with 200,000 people living in camps with not enough food, water or medicine supplies. Some camps doesnt even have a tarpoline over them to protect them from from the heavy rain that has started since yesterday. The earthquake in Mataram 2 days ago has destroyed all the shops and markets which has made it harder for them to get supplies in Lombok. Syams family and rest of the boys have all lost their homes. And there are hundreds of thousands of people with similar fate. There has been predictions of 24 days more of earthquakes and tremors. I lived through 4 days of this and it has been a nightmare for me and I cant even imagine how it is for the people of Lomybok and the gilis as the supplies are drying up.

These are poor selfless people who are helping each other while living the worse nightmares of their life. Our staff stayed back in Meno taking care of guests while their houses had collapsed and had relatives dying. Annie was cooking for close to 30 guests risking her own life being inside the kitchen next to our neighbours huge wall that could have collapsed. Her house had destroyed in the very first earthquake and all of her relatives as well. Amed and jam stayed back until all the guests from the hostel made it out of the island. Even then we had to force them out of the island to their family as they wouldn't leave because some of us decided to stay back and they didn't want us to be staying back on our own. I stayed in a camp in Meno and the locals took care of all the gtourists stuck there as their own even when there was no government assistance for Meno and there were uncertainities about tsunami that could have probably wiped off the entire gilis. We were trying to send some money for our staffs personal use but their first reaction was to buy food and water for the people in their camps And there are tons of other people in lombok and gilis who are being extremely selfless while being in the harshest condition you can imagine.
