    Story

The friends and family of Jack Lonergan, who died suddenly on Saturday 14th August 2021, invite you to contribute to this fundraiser in his memory.

Jack will never be forgotten by his family and those fortunate to have shared his love and friendship. Jack was also a committed and enthusiastic teacher who combined his great passion for music with a deep understanding of the positive impact this can have on the wellbeing of young people.

Jack was committed to providing the best and broadest musical education possible, and to giving students of all abilities the opportunity to play and create music. Jack spent three years teaching at St George’s, a mixed Catholic secondary school in north west London, where he was instrumental in setting up the music technology programme. As a result of his commitment and passion, this continues to grow and develop with more students studying the subject at A Level and beyond.

Jack’s talent for music was infectious and he was committed to enabling students from all backgrounds to share his love for music. In his memory, St George’s will continue to give all students a safe space to follow their own musical journey, whether it’s picking up an instrument for the first time or performing at some of London’s iconic venues.

Jack’s friends and family invite you to celebrate his legacy by contributing towards the continued growth of the music department at St. George’s enabling them to offer students an ever-expanding range of musical opportunities.

Thank you very much for your kind donation to the fund in memory of Jack. Together with your generosity, the fund has reached £6,696 and this will be used to create a recording studio in the Music Department at St George’s school where Jack trained and taught. As you will be aware, Jack loved teaching and this recording studio will be a fitting legacy to benefit future students who share a similar passion for music. Thank you very much for your kindness. Michael Lonergan

Jack’s father Michael shared Jack’s story with me today. Jack sounded an amazing young man and it is great that there will be a legacy to him within music.
