    Story

For many years since my university days,it has been my vision to "teach English abroad to children with no shoes".
In the early 90's I spent time in India and was massively intrigued by the contrast of every day life there.I returned to city life at Uni in Edinburgh with lasting memories of people my own age and much younger who were totally uneducated, materially had nothing, but who's lives were rich in other ways, happy smiling souls desperately seeking knowledge of my oh so different UK life"what does cold feel like?" "how does snow work"?

My 2020 challenges began with Tough Runner Falkirk (Jan) and I have various events planned,Glasgow Kiltwalk 23 Miles (April)Meadows Marathon (March),Edinburgh Marathon 10k (May,)Tough Runner Dumfries (July),Climbing Ben Nevis (August) Great Glasgow Run 10k (Oct).

Ghana in May 2020 is a massive undertaking and completely out with my comfort zone but a challenge that I'm hugely excited about.
I have chosen a GVI (Global Vision International) and will be a volunteer on their Early Childhood Development programme.
GVI also supports a woman's empowerment project in the same area providing women with financial and social skills.
Both of these areas I am hugely passionate about and I am embracing the chance to make a real lasting difference in these needy and under developed communities.
My role in my time there will be to support these communities and assist with developing and implementing teaching programmes.
The money I am raising is to make my mission matter...sending me to Ghana to use my extensive transferrable skills to benefit these needy communities will have lasting and life changing effects empowering women and children on the other side of the world but also grow me as a person from the experience and bring back to my own community and life here in our fast paced, technology driven, competitive materialistic, stressful Scotland..a little taste of Africa.
