£775raised of £500 target by 28 supporters

Weʼve raised £775 to go towards a new Scout hut for 1st Virginia Water Scouts by hiking 50 miles from Seaton in Devon to Watchet in Somerset.

    Virginia Water, UK
Funded on Friday, 28th September 2018

    What is crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.

The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.

The Troop was formed in 1950 with Trotsworth Hall as its base, however this aged building is very rundown now, defying health & safety regulations and restricts the number of youth members that we can accommodate. Therefore 1st Virginia Water Scouts Group are embarking on a major property improvement program which includes new disabled access, creating more space for our growing pack, and a safe & warm place to run activities at all weather. In this day and age it is even more important to build a sense of community for our children and give our children more confidence, responsibility, a broader set of friends, and the chance for adventure and to pursue things they might not get to do otherwise.

Completely exhausted!!It has been a long, hot and challenging first day. Stunning scenery, lots of wildlife, too many stiles and far too many cattle gates!! My feet are throbbing, I stink and I cannot wait for my bed! Same again tomorrow then! 👣😩🚿🛏 xxx

On Sunday Jo and I did a big practice hike. We walked from Runnymede to Windsor along the river, up to the Copper horse and through Windsor Great Park out to Coopers Hill and back to Runnymede. 19.5 miles in total!!! I had a huge blister on my foot which exploded on the way down Coopers Hill but apart from that it was a comfortable walk. Must remember to pack sun cream and a hat!! Thank you to everybody who has donated - £320 raised so far!! Amazing!!! xxxx

I have watched all three of my boys start as Beavers, then move up to Cubs, Scouts and then Young Leaders. I feel passionately about Scouting. It is run by amazing volunteers who give up their time for children so they can grow confident and experience amazing activities.
