In November 2016 my dad, Don was diagnosed with Prostate cancer. On a positive note its slow growing, this means he may not need treatment for a couple of years.

However some men are faced with needing treatment straight away. In these cases they have to travel to other hospitals for treatment which isn't local and can keep them from loved ones for weeks.

Prostate Cancer mainly affects men over 50 years old and your risk increases with age. About 1 in 8 will get Prostate Cancer at some point in their lives.

Worcestershire Acute Hospital has set up an appeal called Rory the Robot to try and raise 1.6 million for a surgical robotic system to treat men with Prostate Cancer. This robotic Surgery is already available in other hospital and Worcestershire Acute Hospital believe men in Worcestershire should have access to this treatment too.
The benefits are:
- Faster recovery time
- Smaller incisions
- Discharge 24 hours after surgery
- Closer to loved ones
- securing the future of cancer care

At some point my dad will need this treatment too!

So to do our bit:
Don is holding a sponsored 12 hour Table Tennis Marathon on Saturday 15th July 2017
At: Droitwich Spa High School (P.E Block)
From: 8am - 8pm.

Also across the road at Droitwich Sports Centre we will be hold a Jar Bizarre (prize every time) and cake sale from 8am.
