    Story

The message is very refreshing and needed at the moment, and I left with a smile on my face and feeling a little bit better about the world. - Two Lasses in London review

    Introduction

Hello to one and all, friends, family and generous strangers who want to support an ambitious, emerging theatre company in their first project of this scale!

As some of you may already know, we have wanted to produce a 3 week run of Love (to) Bits ever since it was first created, in 2018. This desire was made even more passionate by the fact that the show won the Brighton Fringe B. fest award at IYAF 2018 and was also nominated for the Best of the Fest award at the same festival. This gave us the confirmation we needed that our show is relatable, loved and needed. Then we performed it at the Brighton Fringe in 2019 and it was very well received - with laughter, tears, and hugs from the audience.

So, from the end of 2019, we started putting all our energy and resources into making this 3 week run happen. As a project of this scale takes time to plan, it was meant to happen in October 2020, but well... we all know what happened. Now, we're finally back!

What Is the Actual Show About?

Love (To) Bits is a seriously comedic drama or kind of a dramatic comedy, however you choose to look at it, there will be laughter…and some tears. Think of it as if Bridget Jones and Fleabag had a love child. How could you resist that?! The show incorporates verbatim theatre and Brechtian elements. The play is comprised of two story arcs. The main arc focuses on the romantic life of the lead character, Cynthia, who just loves love, but can't quite seem to ever get it right. The secondary one showcases different people’s verbatim answers to the age old question “What is love?”. The two are perpetually intertwined.

Here's a snippet of the show so that you know what you'll be supporting, in case our genuine, heartfelt, doe-eyed gratitude is not enough of an incentive: Love (to) Bits

    Details of the Project

We are doing a 3-week production of Love (to) Bits at Barons Court Theatre from the 7th to the 25th of June this year. This for us, as a company, is a massive undertaking, 3 weeks is a long time both from a financial and an audience engagement standpoint and, as we've mentioned before, we've never done something so ambitious before, so we need all the support we can get. Why do it, if it's so complicated and financially difficult? Because we believe in this show and its message with all our hearts and we want people to see it. We believe art can help people heal and feel understood, and this show, through its message, is trying to do just that. Because we are in an industry in which we need to create our own opportunities and having a production of this length will be a massive step in the right direction: shows that last 3 weeks or more are much more likely to get agents in to see them, to get reviewers, casting directors or artist directors of other venues with whom we hope to build connections that will be fruitful in the future and will help us to continue creating meaningful work and tell the stories of the underdogs, of people like all of us, in a field that can be very exclusive.

    What's the Funding for?

We have a confirmed venue, confirmed dates, but without much funding... We are now working on our second Arts Council bid and hope to get the bulk of the funding from there, but if we don't, we still want to make the project happen. This is where YOU come in! This is our baby, so we're ok with not knowing exactly how much money we'll make out of it, doing unpaid rehearsals, finding rehearsal space wherever we can, having to work our day jobs while also working on the show so we can have some funds to invest in it, while also supporting ourselves. What we're not ok with is not giving it the life it deserves by not having enough people see it. So, the purpose of this crowdfunding campaign is to get the financial resources necessary to hire a PR and Marketing person specialised in promoting theatre and making sure our show gets the audience it deserves, as well as paying for the tools they will need in achieving that purpose: social media targeted ads, promotional materials, ad space on theatre-specific websites (such as The Stage), etc. All the other costs we'll cover from our own funds, if we don't manage to get the Arts Council funding, but we just couldn't afford to also add this on top of it.

Truly, your support would mean more to us than we can possibly say and we promise to make it worth your while... and donations! So here are the rewards you get for your generosity!

We hope to be able to reciprocate that through our rewards: a personalised thank you video we will post on our social medial accounts, a mention in the show programmes, a link to the recording of our show and a T-shirt with the artwork of the show.

All Our Loving - £50 and upwards - That's it, you've made it! You have ALL OF OUR LOVE, by this point we might have, as well, just named the show after you, because we love you to bits! We are so, so, so grateful, you absolute superstar and hero! Here it is, the reward bundle to end all reward bundles: a personalised thank you video we will post on our social medial accounts, a mention in the show programmes, a link to the recording of our show, an online mindfulness and self-love workshop led by Ioana Goga (who is a trainee counsellor), a poster of the show signed by the whole cast.

*If any of the rewards from previous donation tiers sound better to you, please do tell us so and we will give you those rewards, as an example, if you've donated £45, but would rather have a tote bag than a T-shirt, we'll make that happen!
