I'm raising money for my friend Alex. We've known each other since we both started secondary school in something like 1985? Blimey that's a long time ago. So most of our lives. Alex is amazing, hilarious, super smart, inspirational (everyone says it!) and the most determined and motivated person I know. She has also been battling cystic fibrosis her whole life. After years of highly-successful, self-medication with herbal remedies, stringent diet and exercise (Alex trained for 5 years as a Naturopath), the CF has in recent years become something that requires more than her own amazing efforts. Earlier this year Alex travelled to India to an Ayurvedic clinic which she'd dreamed about doing for years, in order to do all she could to improve her quality of life, which had become pretty bad. Being at the clinic in India was not easy - again, she's made of tough stuff, but it has been amazingly beneficial.

So obviously we want to help her to get back there. 

Alex has used her learnings from the clinic to re-evaluate life and improve on an already strict schedule. But she does it with joy and happiness, as she's delighted these things help her to feel more well.

So please do give as generously as you can. I know lots of you know Alex in which case you'll know some or all of this. Some of you won't know Alex but I really would ask you to give a little something, or a lot, as it will make such a noticeable difference to a very special person's life.  

Oh, and it seems by the by really, but I decided to run the Edinburgh marathon as a means to raise this money. I'm doing that on May 27th. I know everyone does them these days but still, it’s really hard to run a marathon, and i’m no natural! So sponsor me to run if you're a fan of people doing mental things, or you like running, or for any reason really, I would appreciate it very, very much, as would Alex.
