    Story

Most of you have probably followed my story over the last year, since falling ill in June 2017 and spending months in morriston hospital fighting against Encephalitis NMDA And having life saving treatment my life changed for good. I was unable to drive for a year, I had to give up my job where I had been promoted to supervisor and I am now registered disabled. There is permenant damage to my brain and i have had to re train my brain to do even the simplest of tasks. I was then on steroids which made me gain 5 stone and have now left my body covered in scars. Throughout this experience I have tried to remain positive and have raised nearly 8k for the encephalitis society. I have worked so hard to do this, arranging charity events, bag packing in supermarkets, radio interviews, allowing my story to be shared in newspapers and magazines and creating a BBC Iplayer documentary to raise awarenesswhich will be out in January 2019. All this work is also to give something back as the costs of my time in hospital and treatment etc cost approx 150k.In January 2018 I was in a horrible place due to my medication being so unbalanced, this was causing me to hallucinate amongst other things which in the end lead me to try and take my own life by overdosing on my medication. I then spent a week in a coma in ICU on life support machines. I lost so many friends since having this illness because some people find it to much to deal with. My partner of nearly two and a half years left me during treatment as many of you will know. The flat me and my mum shared, due to her being my carer and having to look after me until I was able to start learning to do things again has now been put up for sale so we are both moving as we are not able to stay there. I am taking this opportunity to make a big move in life and to move away where I have friends and family members close by to be independent again! I'm taking this as a fresh start and new chapter of my life. It will be nice to live I an area where not everyone recognises me for my illness. I am currently staying with a friend because starting to live alone is not easy. I am trying to raise funds to enable me to move and after all the fundraising I have done I am kindly asking people if they would be willing to help me take this next step in my life. I would be so greatful for everyone following my story to help me make this possible! I am trying so hard to scrape every penny together for deposits and upfront costs as i don't have anyone to be a guarantor. I am trying to raise funds for furniture and equipment to start up my home. Thank you to everyone for reading this and any help is appreciated! Once I am settled I will start to do voluntary work for the NHS and possibly to take on th coordinator role for blood bikes as there are so many volunteers needed for this. This will fill my time during my recovery until I am allowed to return to work!
