Story

As a Ukrainian, since the beginning of the war I was appalled by stories of children being taken away from their families and carers and deported across the border. The number of Ukrainian children who might have been displaced now ranges between 190000 and as many as 744000. Many have families back home who are desperate to be reunited with their kids - but this requires a complex and coordinated humanitarian effort. This can be impossible for one parent or family to accomplish - and this is where Save Ukraine comes in. It is a charitable organisation that provides aid to families and children affected by war; a comprehensive rescue network that coordinates the efforts of various organisations and volunteers, focusing on evacuating individuals from the front lines, restoring and rebuilding their lives, and returning deported children home to their loved ones. A story in The Guardian prompted me to get in touch with the organisation and organise this fundraiser.

In October, I will be running 20k in Paris and a full marathon - my first! - in Amsterdam to support this fundraising effort. Please support this effort to help bring more attention to this incredibly important cause.
