In Febuary 2016 my Mum took seriously unwel with the flu. She was taken into Ninewells Hospital in Dundee where her health deteriorated rapidly, within a few days she was intubated and taken to the intensive care department as she was unable to get sufficent oxygen without further intervention.

After less than 72 hours we were then informed that my Mum was no longer getting enough oxygen via the ventilator.

It was then we were told about a treatment called ECMO in simple terms ECMO is an advanced firm of life support that helps keep extraordinarily ill patients alive. The treatment is delivered using specialist equipment and skills too pump blood out of the body, removing CO2 and restoring oxygen levels.

This treatment could only be delivered by transferring Mum to Aberdeen. The team came down from Aberdeen and were able to transfer my Mum successfully up to Aberdeen. This treatment and the highly skilled staff were able to save my Mums life. Without this treatment my Mum could not have survived.

This is why Steven and I are raising money for this department to help in any way we can. So on January 1st 2018 1400, we will be completing the New Year Dook in Broughty Ferry and we would love if you coukd spare a few ££ to donate to this very worthy cause.
