Senior Aircraftman Christopher Bridge joined the Royal Air Force (RAF) in June 2005. He passed both his Basic and Trade Training courses, and was posted to 51 Squadron (Sqn) at RAF Lossiemouth. He deployed to Iraq Jan-Jun 2006 and then to Afghanistan in Apr 2007. Christopher lost his life in August 2007 when the vehicle he was travelling in was caught in an explosion during a routine patrol. He was only 20 years old. The patrol's interpreter was also killed while 2 other RAF Regiment Gunners were left with life-changing injurties

Every year, 51 Sqn play a charity golf tournament – The Christopher Bridge Open Golf Memorial Cup – at a course in Moray. All money raised, at the request of his mum Nicolette, is donated to the Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund in thanks for the support that she and the rest of Christopher’s family received during this horrific time.

As this year is the 10th anniversary of Christopher’s death, the Sqn have invited his family to share the day with them. This year, the Moray Golf Club are hosting the tournament with support from Gordon & MacPhail. The Stotfield Hotel in Lossiemouth are providing the family with 2 nights accommodation.
